No Music?

"The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils;
The motions of his spirit are as dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus;
Let no such man be trusted."

A Rich and Informative Discussion

Check out this truly lovely conversation between Speaking of Faith's Krista Tippet and writer, musician and scholar Joe Carter. His rich, sonorous baritone is a delight to hear, and the program includes performances. I had to have a transcript so I can read over it and digest it whenever I want to. I'll share some of my favorite quotes at another time.

I learned recently that Joe is ill. If you are so inclined, you can donate to his medical expense fund at:

The Joe Carter Trust Fund

He is a true treasure.

Taking Back the Music

Here are my thoughts on Essence magazine's Take Back the Music campaign. I'm linking to them because they have to do with one of gospel's relatives--hip-hop. Enjoy!
